Toronto Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Matchup Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the championship in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their first World Series since 1993 by beating the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.

Behind 3-1, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh frame, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 victory in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the defending champions, holders of the reigning title, in the forthcoming championship.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, Toronto, our country," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "This is such an incredible feeling."

George Springer has now slugged twenty-three playoff homers, making him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another player anywhere that I want up in that situation except for him with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.

The Mariners, who had led the early in the series, remain the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a championship series.

Manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it hurts" after his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but commended their work this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we ended up on the losing end of this game," he remarked.

Toronto secured the World Series on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
